A screaming city
A deaf, blind world
We’re too busy
To care
To pray
For the unheard cries
For the broken unity
For the children
Whose lives have been robbed
Whose lives
Have been deemed worthless
By our own hands
We created the worst humanitarian crisis of our time
And yet, we sit in silence
We sit in complacency
We sit comfortably
Within our own freedom
While they are imprisoned for existing
Will we heal from this?
Can we ever heal from this?
They’ve accepted their fate
And war and injustice is all they know
Now all we can utter is,
“We have failed you, Aleppo.”
Oh how we have failed you.
